Legal Clinic at PTHC 2013

Increasing access to legal services and information is crucial to promoting overall health and well-being in our community. In recognition of this connection, the Philadelphia Trans-Health Conference will once again partner with Mazzoni Center’s Legal Services Department as well as numerous volunteer attorneys to provide an exciting legal program for our 2013 event, including our Fourth Annual PTHC Legal Clinic.

Once again, PTHC plans to offer a three hour walk-in Legal Clinic that will give in-state (Pennsylvania) conference attendees (and, in some circumstances, out-of-state attendees) an opportunity to meet one-on-one with volunteer attorneys and law students who can provide free legal information and advice in various areas of law.

In 2012, attorneys provided information and advice on:

• legal name changes
• gender marker corrections
• adoption
• custody
• guardianship
• marriage and divorce
• advanced planning documents
• instances of discrimination (employment, housing, public accommodations)
• insurance difficulties
• instances of bullying and discrimination in schools
• other legal issues
